        Building Services Adviser

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical advice to members on building regulations and standards, approval requirements, building product, material and construction advice, in person and via email
  • Provide support to the Assistant Director, Building Services
  • Assist with preparation of articles for member programs and publications
  • Contribute to the development of HIA building policies in relation to building regulations and technical matters
  • Represent HIA on external industry forums and bodies
  • Provide support to the Queensland Technical Committee as required
  • Work as part of a team to provide technical advice to members located in all states and territories

The successful candidate will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (such as building, building surveying, construction management, architecture, engineering construction, or a builder’s licence or building trade qualification)
  • Sound knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, WHS regulations and building/planning approval arrangements in Queensland
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical information
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing demands
  • Advanced analytical, writing and research skills
  • The ability to produce material in a range of professional formats and styles for relevant target audiences

Although some experience would be preferred, recent graduates are also welcome to apply.
